The Greater Summit Business Conference & Expo is a shared initiative by the County of Summit and City of Akron, and many others to bring together Small Business, minority business enterprises (MBEs), and corporations from across the state of Ohio in order to promote diversity, cooperation, and innovation, by connecting businesses of all sizes and industries with the opportunities needed to build success through business partnerships while contributing to the economic growth of the community at large. The goal of this event is to promote cooperation among small businesses and MBEs to engage with corporations for the purpose of growth and development. Attendees will be able to capitalize on numerous benefits from attending this event including workshops, the business-to-business tradeshow, and networking.  Certified small businesses may also be eligible for contract opportunities provided by corporations as well as city and state agencies.

Why Attend?

The 2016, 2nd Annual Greater Summit Business Conference & Expo included a tradeshow where more than 50 vendors exhibited their products and services to over 255 attendees. In addition, this special event included two workshops hosted by small businesses owners and corporate executives tailor-made to suit the needs of our diverse business community. The Greater Summit Business Conference & Expo exemplified the potential for success in every partnership and highlighted how diversity plays a pivotal role in that success. With the continued participation of our many partners, the 3rd Annual Greater Summit Business Conference & Expo promises to be an even larger and more prosperous event.

[heading title=”Workshop Descriptions” fontclass=”fa-info-circle”]

A Small Business and Corporate Workshop As the business world evolves, there is an increased demand for diverse opportunities and collaborative efforts between businesses of all levels. There are more incentives than ever for corporations and small businesses to work together under a single accord and move towards more lucrative endeavors. This workshop will show small businesses how best to secure partnerships with larger organizations while putting corporations into contact with certified small businesses from every industry to meet their outsourcing needs. This workshop provides vital information that encourages businesses of every level to form partnerships that will increase revenue and spread your products and services to larger demographics.

Financing, bonding, certification, and health care are all key drivers in the success of any small business. Being able to finance your business is not only crucial in maintaining your day-to- day operations, but it can also help you meet necessary business expenses such as health care for your employees. Certification is also beneficial to any business seeking contract opportunities and partnerships with larger organizations, and very few corporations will do business with non-certified businesses which makes certification a must. If you’re serious about doing business at the next level you’ll need to learn about bonding and how it protects your business as well as your customers.

The “Doing Business with the State of Ohio” workshop will focus on benefits of being a certified Minority Business (MBE), which include but are not limited to procurement opportunities and financing that is available.
